- A talk about the Levenshtein distance and its generalisation to trees using the Zhang-Shasha algorithm. This talk was presented at IISER Kolkata.

- 2003 Secured an All-India Rank of 10 (8) in the fourth (fifth) National Science Olympiad.
- 2004 Selected as an National Talent Search scholar
- 2005 Recipient of the Young Scientist Encouragement Programme (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, KVPY) fellowship, a programme started and funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India and administered by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
- 2007 Recipient of the C.N.R. Rao medal for securing the highest grade at my institute in the first semester (December 2006) in a batch of 38 students. I received the prize again in the third semester, this time shared with three others.
- 2007 Selected for undergraduate study at the University of Liverpool (BSc, Computer Science), University of Edinburgh (BSc, AI and Computer Science) and the University of Leeds (BSc, AI and Mathematics). Did not attend due to insufficient funding.
- 2009 Recipient of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, (JNCASR), Summer Research Fellowship for the year 2009, a competitive programme jointly funded by the DST, India, Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies, New Delhi and JNCASR, in which about 5000 students from all over India apply for the 120 fellowships awarded.
- 2009 Selected as one of the 15 Rajiv Gandhi Science Talent Research Fellows based on completed project reports of all disciplines for the year 2009 under the JNCASR SRFP programme.
- 2009 Recipient of the Summer Research Fellowship in Theoretical Physics at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai
- 2010 Recipient of the DAAD Working Internships in Science and Engineering Fellowship to visit Max-Planck-Institute for physics of complex systems, Dresden from May to July 2010.

- Programming: Fluent in C, C++, Python, MATLAB and Unix shell script. Basic knowledge of Perl and rudimentary Haskell. I do the programming for DXAsia.info, a website which informs viewers about South Asian radio.
- Operating Systems: Conversant with Windows, GNU/Linux and Macintosh systems.
- GNU/Linux: Package maintainer for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution. Previously, I co-developed a package quality assurance program for the Arch Linux distribution.
